Chondrosarcoma in the lung

My 33-year-old husband Brad was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma a year and a half ago when doctors found a cartligious tumor in his right femur. Surgery was performed to remove the tumor and he eventually had a full custom knee replacement done.

In October of 2007 doctors found the same chondrosarcoma had metastisized to his right pulmonary artery going into his lung + several other spots forming on the lung. Doctors at MD Anderson told Brad there was no good treatment for him and that he could expect to live 6months-a couple of years.

We are not taking this diagnosis as the final word, but are instead looking into alternative options. We are specifically looking outside of the United States to see what other drugs, therapies, treatments are being offered. Does anyone have any previous experience with some of the clinics in Mexico?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Sweetie, I am a Carepage member, and I came across this message board. I just have to say that I am real sorry about your husband. I am not going to be much help here. I have breast cancer. But, my Dear friend had Chondrosarcoma of the Pelvic. She did lose her right leg to this. And, yes it did go to her lungs. She did pass away in Oct 2005. She was such a brave and strong woman. She lived for her two young boys. I am not sure of any other alternative treatment here. I live in Florida. I had my treatment done with Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fl. My friend had treatment done with Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl. There is a place there where they specialize in this kind of cancer. It is a rare type of cancer. I do know one thing is that Where I get treated, Lee Moffitt has been known for their wonderful miracles. For one, I am in remission. I just hope I can help you and others with getting help for their cancer, by referring you here. Please visit the website for Lee Moffitt. I sure do hope this helps some. Go to www.moffitt.org

God Bless,
Kaloni Kelley

Dear Jenny,
I hope and pray that you and Brad were able to find some type of treatment. My cousin's husband has been diagnosed with the same thing. I would appreciate any information you would be willing to pass on. This is dreadful and I want to help them.
Stay strong,
S. Donohue
