Hello
I would like to know if anyone knows about the side effects of Lupron? I had my first shot last month and am feeling aches and pains in muscles and flu like symptoms but most of all I am looking for information about the effects of Lupron on the liver as I have cirrosus and have heard that could be a problem. I would appreciate any information I can get on the subject. Thanks

Pete

I would love to have more info on the lupron Depot side effects, and what to do about the Depot if you are having several side effects. I was on Lupron Depot in 2002 and I have been in pain everyday of my life now. The side effects I am having are lower back pain and my knees, ankles and elbows swell up , my breasts swell several pain in my left breast And depression and last I am having hot&cool flashes . I need help on how to get better, and would love to see the (FDA) recall the Lupron Depot it is unsafe and I wish I would of never had taken the Lupron if I know what I know now about the drug. I now have to have a Bone Density Test done ,I have to have an Ultasound done on my breast . The lupron depot nearly ruined my life. My back went out in 2004 I had bulging disc and was out of work for over 6months, And I was just trying to get help for my Endometriosis. I feel all the peopel that are responsible for approving the drug on the market need to giving the drug and see how thay feel.nenelovesfrog@yahoo.com

Hi,

My name is Julie. I too need someone to talk to. My obgyn wants me to take Lupron. I am saying NO WAY!!!! I asked my obgyn if she had a list of patients I could speak with and their weren't any. What does that say about the drug.
I was wondering if I could speak with you and ask you a few questions. I have endometriosis and either need to have surgery to remove the large cyst or take Lupron which I am so against.

Thanks
Julie

Hi Julie and Others,

I am going into my 5th shot on lupron depot for possible endometriosis and I actaully would have to say I love it. Well... besides the hot flashes, and insomnia, I am fine. I have been pain free and cycle free since 03/20/07. I am going to have laparoscopy though after my sixth shot cause I have cysts and stuff also. But I feel alot better than when I didnt have the medication i was in terrible pain. But if you would like to talk feel free to email me.

thanks
Pamela

Whatever you do, do not take Lupron Depot. I took 2 injections in 2002 and I am still suffering from the side effects of it. I suffer with on-going bone & joint pain, osteoarthritis, neuropathy, cervical stenosis, bulging disks. While I was taking the actual injection back in 2002, the bone & joint pain was so bad I wanted to die. I had blood in my urine from it, wound up going to a urologist in which he could not find any reason for the blood in the urine and then proceeded to tell me that he was not aware that Lupron does this because he prescribes it to his prostate cancer patients. What's the scariest about these after effects, not one doctor will admit that this drug caused this problem. I have been to neurologists, orthopedics, pain management doctors, internal medicine doctors, urologists, rheumatoligists and they look at you like your making all these aches & pains up and then tell you you have fibromyalgia or something else. Whatever you do, stay away from this drug, this drug will destroy you and your life. Please e-mail me if you need any further info on what I have endured over the past 5 years.

Hi! Have two large fibroids, going into surgery in December. I've had my first Lupron shot and the doctor told me I would have a period in about 2 weeks and that would be the last one FOREVER!! Well, that sounded great!!! I started in the 2 week time frame and it has not stopped!!! I'm in the third week now. I"ve got these huge clots off and on and feel that I am going to bleed to death with this last farewell period.Experiencing headaches, hotflashes and feel sick to my stomache. This all started two weeks after the shot. The pain I was experiencing before has went away. Is all this normal?

I am in my 3rd month of shots and am suffering from severe neck pain and headaches. Other than that Ive had a few hot flashes but they were no big deal. My neck and shoulder pain is so awful that I am scheduled to go to a neurologist next week. Does anyone else have this?

I've had 2 different 6 mo rounds of lupron . . . I really would not recommend it to anyone . . . My periods did stop when I was on the lupron, and my endo pain was better, but it came right back after the lupron. And each time I ended up needing surgery anyway. It is expensive, and the side effects were bad . . .if it had cured my problem maybe I would recommend it, but it does not cure endo. . . the only possible cure is to have it surgically excised - the docs have to cut it out - and then it can return in 40% of the cases . . . but I believe if they get it all the chances of a recurrence are less. . . .But I guess the main reason I wouldn't take the lupron is the long-lasting side effects . . . I started hurting all over when I took the first round in 2000, and I have been hurting ever since, I also have memory problems and headaches which I can trace back to the time I took lupron in 2000.
Now that I'm finally figuring out what caused these problems, I am off on the hunt for help . . .
I would seriously consider stopping the injections if you have already started them . . .maybe look for a new doc that will excise the endo. . .and if there is someone out there that is just thinking about it . . . don't start!

I am looking for info on Lupron for endo. Had surgery in July and had left ovary with adhesions on bowel, and ureter removed. Felt great for 3-4 months, now feeling endo pain again. Scared to go on Lupron. Alternatives?

I went on Lupron almost 6 years ago. I was desperate and the alternative for me was a complete hysterectomy. I had grave concerns about the side effects, but felt I had no choice. I was already infertile at 36 due to endometriosis and cysts. Here is my experience: The shots put me into drug induced menopause within about 3 weeks. I wish I had been more prepared for what that meant. I would have felt more in control if I had known what to expect. By the second shot, I was experiencing moments of intense depression. I could sit and cry for no reason. Never, had I dealt with this before. After the second shot (I'm experiencing full menopause/hot flashes etc by now) I started having serious joint pain. So bad, there were days I could hardly walk. I was only able to complete 5 of the 6 shots. I simply could not cope with the last one. After about a month, my period started and the joint pain and menopausal symptoms gradually declined. I was so upset when I still had pain during my cycle....but not as severe. I kept hoping it would disappear but alas it didn't. HOWEVER...this drug did help. And yes, it was definitely worth it. For the last 6 years I am able to COPE with my cycle. I still take copious amounts of Aleve, but I am no longer bedridden or needing a hysterectomy. I don't have cysts nearly as much. I was told the results could last up to 5 years. I am in my 6th year and doing fine. My doctors hope I may even reach natural menopause on my own. This was unthinkable before when the monthly pain was so excruciating I would go to bed for 2 days. Just an encouragement to those who feel like they are at the end of their rope and Lupron seems too extreme. It worked for me. I researched online before starting it, and I think many of the stories out there could have scared me off. Just my own experience. I hope this helps someone as they make their decisions..

Hi I have had 2 shots of Lupron....each were for 3 months. The last one I took was at the beginning of October. I don't know much about Lupron, but I am having a SEVERE problem. I cannot have sexual intercourse. IT KILLS ME! The pain is unbearable. It is not a "deep penetration" thing, (Sorry TMI) it's right away, like I'm swollen. I was just wondering if this is a side effect that anyone has heard of or if it might be something else. Thanks so much!

I am also at a point where Im trying to decide if I am going to take Lupron or not. I am 30 yrs old, already had a partial hysterectomy (due to rupturing during a cesection and extreme endometriosis) My one ovary I have left, has 2 cysts. I was in the hospital, durning thanxgiving, pain was so bad I couldnt walk upright. My OB sent me to a fertilization MD, who recommended Lupron. I have a history with depression and my hormones. Give me ANY birth control and I get to a suicidal point. I am SOOOOO scared to take this. I am a single mom (share custody with my ex) and I in no way, shape or form, want my daughter to see me at such a low point. I dont think I would be able to handle it alone. And reading all above posts, its making me even more hesitant. I think I might just try handle the pain (Bad days only come 1-2 times a month) and see what happens. I just hate missing work. If anyone out there, has had a history of depression, and took this med, please email me, tell me what happend to you. Anyone acctualy, please contact me and tell me your story. thanks!!
