Dr. Phillips is Physician-in-Charge of Urologic Oncology, Beth Israel Medical Center, having served 3 years as a senior surgeon at the National Cancer Institute in Washington and Director of the Urology Training Program at the National Naval Medical Center. Dr. Phillips served as an officer in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps having completed three years of research in the molecular genetics of urologic cancers. At Beth Israel, Dr. Phillips practice focuses on the robotic and minimally invasive surgery for kidney, prostate, and bladder cancers. Dr. Phillips is an expert on molecular targeting, where a tumors genetic fingerprint is used to determine treatment type and has published extensively in clinical and genetic peer reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Urologic Society. - Daniel Shasha, MD
Attending Radiation Oncologist and Co-Leader of Urologic Oncology, Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Shasha is an expert in cancers of the male genitourinary tract, with a specific focus on treatment of prostate cancer. He has extensive experience using 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, permanent radioactive seed implants and temporary high dose rate implants of the prostate. Dr. Shasha is a leader of the Beth Israel Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program, which allows men to discuss their treatment options in a dual consultation with a radiation oncologist and a urologic oncologist simultaneously. Dr. Shasha also specializes in brachytherapy of all sites, malignancies of the head and neck, and palliative medicine. He is collaborating with the department of pain medicine and palliative care in an effort to foster high quality patient care. Dr. Shasha is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American College of Radiology and the American Brachytherapy Society.
